Confidence Coaches for All

Why Everyone Needs a Confidence Coach

Every week, we're talking how to build legendary kids.

With almost every hard thing in life—whether you’re climbing Everest or being shaken awake by your twin boys at 5:30AM—you hear the same advice: mind over matter. So why then are there entire industries—from fancy gyms to at-home pelotons, coaches to physical therapists—devoted to training the matter, but almost nothing and no one for training the mind?

Turns out there are. Or at least there are for MVPs and Olympians, F1 drivers and chess champions, hedge funders and tech titans, fighter pilots and nasa astronauts. They’ve all got performance coaches and psychologists to train up their confidence so they can trust themselves when it’s game time.

But why, I wondered while brewing my coffee at exactly 5:32AM, aren’t there confidence coaches for everyone? By 5:34, I was thinking maybe there could be...

We know that confidence is a key predictor of happiness and success. And everyone deserves access to that.

That’s why we envision Legends as a Confidence Coach for all—where every kid can get personalized practice that helps them be who they want to be and get to where they want to go.

And that’s what really matters.

Actionable Advice from our Head of Program & Development

We’ve read the research on confidence coaching and talked to the experts so you don’t have to. Here are three techniques that bona fide confidence coaches use when working with athletes on building confidence— techniques that you can use in your family, too.

Research TLDRs from our Director of Research & Evaluation

Confidence profiling is a process that’s been used successfully by Olympic medalists, world-record holders, and World Cup winners; and those same psychological skill-training methods have even been adapted for use with kids.

A word from our Executive Director of Legends Lab Foundation

I’ve had, known, and worked with many coaches in my life but none has been as legendary as Coach Mike Krzyzewski, Duke basketball’s wildly famous and successful coach for 42 seasons.
